Official presentation of the circuit La Rioja Mountain Races Chiruca Experience 2024

The third season of the La Rioja Mountain Races Chiruca Experience, the trail running and hiking circuit in the mountains of La Rioja, has begun.

Last Wednesday, January 31st, the LRMR Chiruca Experience 2024 calendar was officially presented. A circuit of races and walks through the mountains of La Rioja that in this edition contemplates 11 races in 11 points of the Riojan community: Autol, Nájera, Foncea, Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Nieva de Cameros, Matute, Ajamil, Ortigosa de Cameros, Ezcaray, Arnedillo, Haro and Ezcaray.

The event, held in Logroño, brought together the mayors of the 11 towns where the races are held, as well as the collaborators of the circuit and the main sponsor, Chiruca.

There is no other trail circuit as strong in La Rioja or in the neighbouring autonomous communities. Long races (42 km), medium races (between 21 and 42 km), short races (between 10 and 21 km) and non-competitive walks of the La Rioja Mountain Races Chiruca Experience Circuit.

These are not only trail races, but each one of them has an associated mountain walk, an activity with a large number of participants and which includes the whole family, a public to which Chiruca footwear is directly addressed. They are marches that are done with family, friends, and that do not have a competitive component. In this way, Chiruca promotes healthy lifestyle habits, the relationship with nature and the care of the planet.

The aim of the circuit is to promote physical activity, under the scope of ‘sport for all’, and to encourage good organised sporting practices and fair play. La Rioja Mountain Races Chiruca Experience wants to collaborate in the improvement of the health and well-being of the people of La Rioja and beyond the borders of La Rioja, through its participation and direct involvement in the Official Circuit of Mountain Races and Walks.

On the 25th of February, Sunday, the starting signal will be given with the first race, the mythical « Ogro » in Autol, where the numbers for the Ogrito race and the Ogrito walk of 19km with 843m positive height gain are already full, and where the last registrations for the Ogro marathon of 42 km with a positive height gain of 2,164m are still pending.
